Legendary Drummer, Gorden Campbell Teaches 10 Essential Gospel Grooves

We are big, bad and back this Monday with a rather special episode with the legendary drummer, Gorden Campbell.

Gorden Campbell was raised behind the drum kit from the age of 5 in Newburgh, New York and moved to Los Angeles, California in 1994 and went on to work with incredible artists such as Earth, Wind & Fire, George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Stanley Clarke, Mary J. Blige & Jessica Simpson to name a few.

Today, he shares his top ten essential Gospel Grooves for drummers. We LOVE a good back beat and a bass line but this got is deep. Gorden shares his passion for drumming and rhythm by starting off with Joel Smith.

Joel Smith was not only a drummer but a bassist too. Groove was the soul of Joel’s life that cause many to say he created the style and is referred to as the godfather of Gospel grooves.

We’ve got a long interview with Joel about to appear on the channel soon so stayed for that. Until then, watch the video above and be sure to check out the full tracks for some inspiration on this Monday morning.
