Recording on the Smooth Cloud 44-A Active Ribbon Microphone

In a previous video, we were at NAMM 2022 where we got the chance to review the Cloud 44 Passive Ribbon. Today we are trying out the Cloud 44-A microphone!

Aside from giving you guys an awesome review of this smooth mic, we are also giving away one for FREE! You can enter below for a chance to WIN!

The best way to give an in depth review of this mic is by actually trying it out! Today we have Noam ‘Nani’ Vazana singing a cover of Neil Young’s “After The Gold Rush.”

Noam “Nani” Vazana is one of the only artists in the world that write & compose new songs in the endangered Ladino language. In her new album ‘Ke Haber’ (What’s New) she captures the spirit of the ancient, matriarchal language and culture and propels it into the 21st century with socially pertinent lyrics, celebrating migration, gender and female empowerment.

Take a listen to this beautiful cover and afterwards, follow along with me as we jump into the multitracks. Everything that you hear on this track is not EQ’d.

You can download the multitracks here! Happy mixing!

A bit more about the Cloud 44-A:

  • The Cloud 44-A is the first and only active ribbon microphone with switchable Voice/Music response curves.
  • Instantly reduces the bass proximity effect associated with being close to the microphone. Reduces rumble and vibration.
  • Full bass response at close proximity for a variety of sources that require that special ribbon mic sound.
