Cranborne Audio:

I met up with Sean Karpowicz from Cranborne Audio and they have a rather interesting device the 500R8. Some might say it was one of the most interesting things at AES 2019.

Not only does it have a 500 series rack on the front, but it also has a summing amp built into it. Sean called it a “studio in a box“, It’s everything you need for tracking, mixing, mix down, all in a 4U rack!

It looks like an 8-slot 500 series rack but it’s actually a lot more than that. It has a 28-in/30-out USB audio interface for recording and playback directly to/from your chosen DAW. A discrete analog summing mixer to be summed and recorded back into your DAW as a stereo track. On top of that, it’s also a monitor controller and artist headphone mixer.

The 500R8 has inserts and doesn’t require you to have 500 series modules to start, you can build your collection over time and use the built-in module bi-pass switches which allow everything to work without the 500 series module inside.

What’s wonderful is that Cranborne Audio has decided to give us a 500R8 to giveaway to our amazing community! (scroll up to enter)

This is one of those things that I have thought about over the years and wondered how complicated it was and who would ever be able to do it. Cranborne Audio a British startup company has done it and it looks marvellous.

I think the 500R8 is a wonderful product that has pulled together a lot of great Ideas with the flexibility of a 500 series rack. You can use Cranborne Audio pres or anyone else’s. Mix and match. – I love that!

“Every single person’s 500R8 is different, it’s a reflection of their personality and identity.”

Lewitt Audio:

We had the opportunity to stop by the Lewitt booth and speak with our friend Mike van der Logt. they’ve brought their recording series microphones to AES.

Anyone who follows me knows we love Lewitt and we are hugely supported for many reasons, mainly because they are phenomenal products and great people.

Lewitt has very graciously given us an LCT 240 Pro to giveaway you our amazing community. (scroll up to enter)

The LCT 240 PRO provides you with professionally refined sound right away with its studio condenser capsule. There’s no need for endless tweaking until you finally got your sound. It’s here already and sits well in the mix. The results will speak for themselves. Listen to the sound samples or try it yourself here.

Mäag Audio:

Mäag Audio is a family business that cares about the community. I’ve been told several times that I need to talk to Cliff Mäag. So today we had a chance to met with Cliff and check out their range of products. The Magnum K is two compressors in one rack for a single channel.

The EQ4M is used a lot for mastering and is an “industry standard” and is a beautiful product. It also comes in a 500 series version The EQ4 – 500.

The Mäag PreQ4 – 500 is a 500 series mic preamp which has been used quite a bit and is starting to get some feet on it. Learn more about the Mäag PreQ4 – 500 here

Focal:

We met up with Josh Estock from Focal to discuss their new 40th-anniversary edition Solo6! Yes, Focal has been making drivers for 40 years! and only got into making monitors in the early ’00s. The Limited edition Solo6 is a limited run and only 400 pairs will be sold worldwide.

The solo6 has been Focal’s number one seller for a long time and so to celebrate we have redesigned the exterior of the monitor. Adding leather siding and a metal tweeter grill for a little more protection.

Focal’s Listen Pro headphones are their entry-level headphones which are extremely flexible and “close to being indestructible which is super hand. They have a focal sound you should be familiar with and are extremely comfortable. Which is probably one of the most important things.

Focal has very kindly given us a pair of their Focal Listen Pro headphones to giveaway to our amazing community! (Scroll up to enter)
