Hello lovely people!
Today I want to introduce you to an amazing producer, composer and musician that has done almost everything in the music industry- the wonderful Brent Fischer! Brent was kind enough to invite us to NRG studios for a two day session where he was producing an album for the artist Simon Pilbrow. But not just any album, it was a jazz album with an amazing array of instruments from the standard rhythm section, of drums, keys, bass, and guitar, to trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and clarinets.
The amazing thing about being at NRG for this recording session was watching them expertly record over 40 minutes of music in 2 days! Brent has expert musicians that can nail their part in 1 or 2 takes almost every time. He also has an amazing recording engineer that he’s worked with for years name Matt Brownlie(we have an interview and NRG tour with coming out Sunday, so keep your eyes peeled). Brent and Matt make for an excellent producer/engineer duo, because Matt is able to work ridiculously fast to make recording so many musicians a smooth process! That’s how they’re able to record so many songs in such little time.
Brent started as a musician at an early age. He grew up as the son of well known keyboardist and composer Clare Fischer. During the interview he talks about growing up and laying underneath his father’s piano listening to him write and compose music. He also says that he never considered anything else for work, looking at his father’s example, he just thought that’s what you did, you become a musician.
Brent produced his fist album at the age of 16, and the very next year he won his first grammy! Can you imagine winning a grammy at 17 years old! His college degree is in symphonic percussion, but his is also a fantastic bassist! In fact, he paid for his university degree by taking gigs as a bass player. He’s also toured with bands, done some artist management as well as work for record labels! All this adds up to the makings of a great producer!
