Easy Speaker Calibration
The ARC 4 software generates test tones that are played through the speakers, the microphone is placed in the listening position using 21 different positions creating a 3D snapshot. The microphone then captures the sound and analyses how the room affects the audio signal. Based on this analysis, the software calculates corrections that can be applied to the audio output to compensate for the room’s acoustic characteristics. The results are stunning and with the software, hardware and microphone all included for a street price of $299.99 it’s incredible value for money.

- Calibrate using ARC Analysis application
Download the ARC Analysis software onto your computer, plug the ARC Mic into your interface and calibrate your room
- Transfer calibration file to ARC Studio
Transfer the calibration file to the ARC Hardware
- Connect ARC Studio to your interface and monitors
We Tested Out The ARC Studio
Nick Sowden from La Barca Sound and I took the new, IK Multimedia ARC Studio through it’s paces and shot out three sets of monitors, Quested S8R Mk II’s, Kali IN-5’s and KEF Q15’s. We did three sets of 21 point microphone placements around the listening position. We then fairly easily tweaked the EQ to our personal preferences, customising the monitors to our taste.
Another feature ARC Studio has is it gives you Emulations of other monitors and playback systems so you can hear what your mixes will sound like on other systems.
