The Audeze Factory Tour: Building Headphones from Scratch

We had an immense amount of fun recently at the Audeze factory and headquarters where Marc Daniel Nelson and I met with CEO, Sankar Thiagasamudram, Chris Berens and many more great employees at one of our industry’s most beloved headphone manufacturers.

Later on, our good friend, Cameron Webb also stopped by to check out some of the headphones as well!

Audeze is based in Costa Mesa, CA and was founded by Sankar Thiagasamudram and Alexander Rosson in 2008 in their garage. Their first product, the LCD-2 projected themselves as leaders in planar magnetic headphones for decades and industries to come.

Their flagship product, the LCD-X is considered the most neutral of the Audeze family range and incredibly popular with producers, engineers, and audiophiles – finally a product we can all get along with!

Sankar, an engineer with a masters in mechanical engineering, took over as CEO in 2015 and continued to further the passion for groundbreaking technology for planar magnetic headphones.

In 2019, Audeze released The Mobius – award-winning headphones that boast 3D surround realism with audiophile-quality sound. The Mobius utilises the Waves NX head-tracking technology making this product perfect for the exponentially growing gaming industry.

In 2022, Audeze released their first headphones dedicated to studio engineers and producers with multi-Grammy-winning engineer, Manny Marroquin. Manny, a long-time lover of Audeze hand-picked qualities throughout the entire Audeze family and closely related to the LCD-5 released in 2021.
