Backroom STUDIO TOUR with Kevin Antreassian

Today we take a tour of Backroom Studios in New Jersey, a recording space that goes beyond the average studio. With over 7,000 square feet of space, the complex includes 15 rehearsal spaces, a backroom tech & mod shop, and media services. But what sets Backroom Studios apart is its owner, Kevin Antreassian. Not only is he the head of the studio, but he’s also a producer, engineer, tech, and musician who’s worked with some of the biggest names in the industry including Sound Garden, The Deftones, Nine Inch Nails, Mastodon, Aerosmith, Glassjaw, Slipknot, Todd Rundgren, and The Dillinger Escape Plan. Follow the link to take a closer look at Backroom Studios and learn more about Kevin’s impressive career.

Kevin has created an amazing space for musicians since opening his studio in 2007. The rehearsal rooms are fully equipped with amps, cabs, and microphones, providing a stage-like experience. And just a short walk away, there’s a recording studio and live room. As a guitar player, Kevin has ensured that the studio is decked out with a huge variety of guitars, amp heads, and cabs in different Iso rooms, all patched in and able to quickly switch from any combination to the other at the flip of a switch, thanks to the Ampete switcher. It’s a dream come true for musicians looking for a space to rehearse and record their music.

Being a fan of hybrid mixing Kevin also has a collection of mic pre’s, compressors and EQ’s from API, SSL, WesAudio, Warm Audio and more all lines up and patched in across his custom built desk. As for monitoring there are the Genelec 1030’s and 1032’s that have become a favorite of Kevins after working with Steve Evett’s during the Dillinger Escape Plan record. He’s grown to enjoy the aggressive upper mids of the Genelecs to really highlight and hear detail in anything in the 3K to 5K frequency range that is very prominent in mixing metal.

Are you looking for a fully equipped studio for your next music project? Look no further!
