Today we spent the day at Bob Clearmountain’s studio “Mix This” and went over to Apogee to hang out!
We’ll have a marvellous video coming out soon with us talking to Bob about all the incredible records that he’s made. The list is ridiculous and his resume is one the best of the best. He may be considered the master of mixing. – All of the mixers I admire, admire him.
Why are we talking about Bob Clearmountain?
Well, today, Apogee is releasing Bob’s Plugin it’s called “Clearmountain’s Domain”. Those of you who know Bob’s work, particularly Roxy Music’s “Avalon” – Since it is held at such lofty esteem; Rightly so.
The space in it, the front to back, left to right its marvellous. Bob is extremely well known for taking delays, reverbs and applying pitch change, EQing delays heavily, sending delays to reverbs, and doing all kinds of detailed stuff.
The point is, he’s the master of that stuff. His mixes are the ones that even to this day I know many many great mixers reference. He is also an incredibly kind, quiet and humble guy. – It was a wonderful day going over there and talking to him (Video Coming Soon)
While we were chatting he told us he has a new plugin coming out, so we’re going to review it and have some fun with it today!
I’m sure you remember The Rolling Stones song “Start Me Up.” Well, Bob told me there is an emulation of that song’s guitar sound in Clearmountain’s Domain. – Let’s open it up and have some fun.

I love the way this plugin is laid out, It’s laid out in a way that’s for an engineering brain. It’s logical and really straight forward.
It isn’t a frilly looking, pretty, with 3D graphics, shadows and lights flashing all over the plugin. – This is a plugin meant for people who want to mix, and I like that!
