EVE Audio SC305 vs SC307: Three-Way Active Monitor Showdown

EVE Audio SC305 vs SC307- Three-Way Active Monitor Showdown

Unsure which EVE midfield monitor is right for you? We’re looking at the EVE Audio SC305 vs SC307 and comparing their similarities and differences.

EVE Audio Is a Relative Newcomer Making a Big Name for Themselves

Berlin-based EVE Audio was founded by Roland Stenz in 2011. He currently owns and operates the company, bringing decades of audio and electronics experience with him. Prior to starting EVE, Stenz successfully founded and ran ADAM Audio from 1999 to 2010. Stenz has leant his expertise to not one, but two, major pro audio companies. It’s no surprise that EVE monitors have made such a name for themselves in a relatively short period of time.

All EVE products feature proprietary design elements built to exact specifications. The company’s primary goal is to build high-quality speakers for clearer, flatter, and more accurate monitoring. Both the SC305 and SC307 are two of EVE’s compact midfield monitors exemplifying many of the innovations EVE has made in just over a decade of development.

EVE Audio SC305

Build & Design

The SC305 is a compact three-way midfield monitor. It utilizes EVE’s own three-way system which distributes frequencies between the woofers and tweeters in a way that increases their efficiency. All EVE products, including the SC305, have onboard DSP to provide filtering and other adjustments for adequate sound in any space.

Woofer & Tweeter

The SC305 has two 5″ woofers and a proprietary AMT RS3 tweeter. Based on the way frequencies are distributed in the system, one woofer only goes up to 350 Hz. The other has a fuller range up to 3000 Hz. The speakers do less physical work, contributing to greater accuracy, less distortion, and more efficient sound reproduction.

Sound Quality

The SC305 midfield monitor has a frequency response of 50 Hz to 21 kHz. Its compact form factor makes it ideal for both quieter critical listening as well as loud playback for referencing and impressing clients. Overall, the frequencies are nicely balanced, transient reproduction is precise, and stereo image accurate. This is certainly a high-quality speaker for professional installations.

EVE Audio SC307

Build & Design

The SC307 is similar to the SC305 in that it’s also a three-way midfield monitor. It sports a similar semi-compact design with tons of power, which makes it versatile enough to operate as a nearfield or a midfield speaker in medium to large rooms. Like the SC305, there’s nothing about the SC307 that calls into question its build quality — these are premium monitors through and through.

Woofer & Tweeter

The biggest difference between the EVE Audio SC305 vs SC307 is the woofer size. The SC307 beefs up the main speakers from 5″ to 6.5″ for additional bass extension and slightly higher maximum SPL. It features a similar tweeter to the SC305, using a proprietary AMT RS2 with a big front plate and a big internal magnet to drive it with more efficiency.

Sound Quality

Performance is certainly not lacking. The SC307’s frequency response is 40 Hz to 21 kHz. One woofer runs from 40 to 300 Hz, while the other carries a broader load from 40 to 3000 Hz. At that point, the tweeter takes over to reproduce high frequencies with great detail and accuracy. The sound is powerful with plenty of clarity for detailed listening at any volume.

EVE Audio SC305 vs SC307: Which Monitors Should I Choose?

Both speakers are exceptional quality for professional monitoring. Room size may ultimately be the determining factor since each are very similar. Larger spaces can make better use of the SC307’s added bass extension and power, while smaller rooms would be better suited to the SC305. In any case, the SC305 and SC307 are both fantastic investments in accurate, flat, cutting-edge professional studio monitoring.
