Fast Easy Drum Replacement in Logic Pro X

Replacing acoustic drum sounds with samples is a great way to fix a poor quality drum recording.  If you made a mistake in the recording process replacing your original recording with a sample will fix it.  If you are tracking in a room that doesn’t sound good for recording drums, then using a sample of a well-recorded snare drum can be a life saver.

Sample replacement can also be a great way to take an already good drum sound and make it amazing.  Many professionals layer in drum samples with the drum sounds they recorded to add character to an already good drum recording.  Sample replacement does’t just have to be a safety net used to fix something bad.

If you’re going to replace or layer drum samples in with your recordings, you want it to be fast and easy.  There are lots of great third-party programs out there that can be used but save your money.  You could copy and paste the snare sample to every hit for the entire 4 minutes of a song, but that doesn’t sound like much fun either.

Fortunately, if you’re using Logic Pro X there is a fast simple way to accurately place samples in your song, and it’s included with the software.  Rob Mayzes from Musician on a Mission shows you step by step how to do it in this video!

Thank you to Rob for making this video and sharing it with our community.  If you like what you saw and want to dive deeper in Logic Pro, Rob’s course is available for $57 and contains 15 hours of Logic Pro X training!

Have a marvellous time recording and mixing,
