We have a rather wonderful guest on Produce Like A Pro today; Danny Gomez! Danny is a huge Queen fan, much like myself! Danny did a lot of the official demos for the IK Multimedia Brian May plugin and was part of the NAMM unveiling (this past NAMM) of the plugin!

What I like about this plugin is that they’ve captured Brian’s tone which is beyond unique.
During this Skype chat, Danny tells us about how he got involved with IK Multimedia and Brian May Guitars!
Danny is self-taught musician, accomplished guitarist and one of the hardest working musicians in the industry! He does it all!: Product designer, expert brand builder, promoter, researcher and musical director. He is Spain’s representative for Brian May Guitars, Marketing and Artist relations for Orange Amplifiers and OMEC Product Manager, and so much more!
Danny has been playing guitar for approx. 27 years. He got his start playing with his heavy metal band, which he refers to as his “Yngwie Malmsteen phase.” Following that period, he decided that he wanted to play with singer songwriters and artists; he wanted to be a support musician. While he was doing that, he always had Queen in the back of his mind, but never played a Queen song because to him, that music was for listening, not to play! “We’re not worthy!” He says! Haha
As a working musician, Danny was on a tour with a band from Mexico in Spain, which caused him to miss auditions for the “We Will Rock You” show in Spain, which he found out about after the fact from his best friend. Although he missed the audition, his friend ended up getting the gig and asked him if he would be willing to cover for him when he couldn’t make the show! Danny ended up taking the gig and working with them intermittently through the run of the show!
He ended up befriending a few of the musicians he was performing with during the show, which lead to them recording a full album! Believe it or not, they got the chance to have THE Brian May play on the song “Too Much Love Will Kill You” in Spanish! They recorded 2 versions of the song, one with Danny’s guitar, minus the solo, and one with no guitar at all! – Brian chose Danny’s version, filled the solo himself, and played harmonies with Danny’s parts! When Danny first heard Brian’s guitar over his, he teared up. It was quite a moment!
Danny’s career has been incredible to say the least!
