They’ve taken the ideas two of the most used and successful EQs of all time and turned them into a plugin! The GML 8200 EQ (this is on every major mixers’ mix bus!) and the Sontec that is used in ever major mastering studio in the world! I’ve never been to a professional mastering studio that didn’t have Sontec Gear!
It’s not the cheapest, however this is finally an EQ plugin that I can trust on my masterbus!
Many mixers have moved to exclusively mixing in the box, however if there’s one thing they still do that is hybrid is to break out and use external EQ and compression hardware!

The AMEK EQ 200 contains Brainworx’s patented Tolerance Modeling Technology (TMT), which simulates channel to channel variances in order to create the most realistic analog sound possible inside your DAW. What we love about analogue is its randomness; the tiny little differences and idiosyncrasies in each channel that give it personality, and this plugin works to create that digitally. The TMT in this plugin makes it so that each channel is different, just like how on my console the master right and left busses sound slightly different, for example.
One amazing feature that I loved is the ability to solo the EQ (particularly problem areas, like the low end) at click of a button!
I am usually nervous about using plugins on the MasterBus, but I am not nervous about this one! This is a MasterBus EQ that I can trust!
This plugin takes what we love about digital and what we love about analogue, plus the sounds of two of the most used and successful EQs of all time, and combines it all into one fantastic plugin.
