Hybrid mixing with Classic Rock Legends

HYBRID MIXING

Today’s video is an excerpt from our very special course called “Mixing Classic Rock for Charity.” The course features an all-star cast of musicians and a song written by Dick Wagner (one of the greatest guitar players of the ‘70s!).

I mixed this song in a hybrid fashion and I show you everything- from my SSL console and analog outboard gear, to my favorite plugin chains in Pro Tools.

100% of the profits from this course go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a world leader in developing new, improved treatments for children with Cancer, Immune- and Infectious Diseases.

Dick wrote the song ‘If I Had The Time (I Could Change The World)’, and he assembled a cast of players which was phenomenal! It included legends such as:

• Vocalists Trini Lopez and Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad)
• Danny Seraphine (Chicago) on Drums
• Leland Sklar (TOTO, Phil Collins) on Bass
• Elliot Easton (The Cars) & Jennifer Batten (Michael Jackson) on E-guitar
• Fred Mandel (Queen, Pink Floyd, Elton John) on Piano
• Ray Colcord (Aerosmith, Lou Reed) on Strings

We went to the highly-acclaimed Sunset Sound Studio 3 to record the song with all of these amazing musicians. It was an incredible time!

Sunset Sound is a world famous studio where some of the most iconic albums of all time have been recorded. Some of these albums include: Prince’s Purple Rain, the Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main St., the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds, Linda Ronstadt’s Don’t Cry Now, part of Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy, Janis Joplin’s posthumously-released Pearl, and hit albums for Elton John, Led Zeppelin and Van Halen. In addition, the Doors recorded their first two albums, The Doors and Strange Days, at the studio.

You can download all of the multitracks featuring these incredible musicians and mix the song yourself!
