January 19th, 2024 FAQ Friday

In todays FAQ Friday, Warren is asked three questions; What Is The Best Instrument To Play For Music Production? How Do I Stay Creative?

and What Makes A Good Assistant?

What Is The Best Instrument?: Warren confesses although he’s a guitar player as we all know, if he could start all over again he’d play the Keyboard! Why? For one, a keyboard gives you access to not only thousand of different pianos (makes, models, locations) but you’ve got access to the thousands and thousands of instruments out there available as virtual instruments at your fingertips. You can program drums, play acoustic instruments, strings, choirs, you have an endless supply to let your creativity flow and create full productions just by yourself!

How Do I Stay Creative?:  The way to be creative is… to be a creative person! Sounds straight forward right? Reality is it’s about allowing yourself to find creative outlets and if one happens to frustrate you, then do something else creative! Just do it, do things that keep those juices flowing it doesn’t even have to coincide with the norm you are use to or do as a living. A great example Warren gives for this is not only is he producing, mixing, working on music but also filming the content on Produce Like A Pro, writing blogs, building a website, running an academy, all things that keep his creative juices going and not in the same way.

What Makes A Good Assistant?: There are a few videos on this subject, one between Eric and Eddy titled “Are Internships Worth It?” the other with Warren alone speaking on this titled “How Do You Go From Intern To Success”. One lesson Warren gives on his subject is based on what NOT to do, a very important lesson for up and comers in the industry who may find themselves in positions where they need to understand studio etiquette, understanding the position the person is it, reading the room, learning how to work with others in a productive, creative yet the right way of doing so.
