Katie Ferrara Interview & This City Performance

Katie Ferrara has been in countless Produce Like A Pro videos and today, we sit down to talk about her brand new single, This City.

This City is a song Katie wrote and produced with Warren Huart about breaking free from hustle culture in Los Angeles and realizing what it means to be a human being alive breathing in the present moment. The cities we build around the world are not just places to live, but rather a reflection of what’s going on inside our minds. In a collective sense, this metaphorical “city” is really every individual’s ego. All the memories of the past are stored in our houses, and the freeways we drive on a daily basis connect these places. The goal is to not get trapped in all this. Life is short. We have two choices in the end: we can spend most of our time working 9-5 jobs or, try to find a sense of connection within ourselves and with other people! It means knowing that the city of memories created within ourselves is not who we are as people. We can just exist in the present.

Engineered by Warren Huart, Eric Gonzalez, Clinton Welander it was later mixed by the legendary, Chris Sheldon and mastered by Jason Germain. The song features Sean Hurley on Bass, Steve Maggiora on Piano, Victor Indrizzo on Drum, Greg Pajer on guitar and last but no-means least Oliver Kraus on strings.

We invited Katie in to the studio yesterday to record an acoustic version of the single using two of her favourite pieces of equipment, the Audient EVO 4 and the JZ Microphone’s Amethyst! You can win the Amethyst below!
