Ken Sluiter Recording Studio Tour

Hello lovely people!

A few years ago my friend, Brad Wood, introduced me to Ken Sluiter. Ken Sluiter is a recording engineer, producer, and mixer out of Chicago. He moved to Los Angeles in 2003, where he worked alongside legendary producers and engineers, such as Andrew Scheps, Greg Fidleman, Joe Chiccarelli and Jim Scott

He has an amazing list of credits that includes a staggering list of talent like James Blunt, Weezer, Augustines, Ok Go, Heart, Marc Almond, Jerry Lee Lewis and many others. As Ken put it, he has had his “head between speakers for the better part of 25 years.”

If you have seen the studio tour that I filmed with Ken from nearly 2 years ago then you may remember that he was mixing entirely in the box. What you will be interested to see though, is the studio where Ken works, The Sweet Spot. He has a lot of lovely gear and the centrepiece of his studio is one of my favorite consoles, the API 1608

When recording, Ken talks about committing to sounds early and uses techniques like summing 3 microphones on a guitar cabinet so that he only has 1 track to deal with inside of Pro Tools.

Join Ken and I as we walk though his studio and discuss his gear and techniques!

Thank you ever so much for all of your wonderful support! Please share this studio tour with your friends and leave a bunch of questions and comments below.

Ken and I also filmed a new premium course where we both take a song that I produced, and Ken Mixes it in the box while walking you through his template.  I also mix the song and show you my hybrid mixing setup, using both Pro Tools and my SSL.  You can get it now, at Pro Mix Academy!

Have a marvellous time recording and mixing,

Warren
