The FUTURE of Surround Reverbs? LiquidSonics Cinematic Rooms

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing you to a ‘golden nugget’ I’ve recently discovered, a plugin that has allowed me to greatly enhance my mixes and productions.

Cinematic Rooms by LiquidSonics

Over the past year, ‘Cinematic Rooms’ has been brought up in conversations time and time again. Not only by top-tier music producers like 10x Grammy-Winner Darrell Thorp (Foo Fighters, Radiohead), but also by engineers who are predominantly working in film scoring and advanced fields like Dolby Atmos surround sound.

So I thought I would give this plugin a shot.

To say ‘I was pleasantly surprised’ is an understatement. Even just pulling up the presets when using ‘Cinematic Rooms’ for the first time, I immediately experienced its incredibly detailed and natural sounding rooms and environments.

I felt immersed in the sound of the music I was working on – I was hooked!

The depth and sheen (I don’t know how else to describe it, haha) on this reverb are right up there with some of the most popular hardware units!

In its extensive present library, you’ll find absolutely everything: from small Chambers, which are perfectly suited for a dry, intimate vocal sound, all the way to big Stages and Halls, which are fantastic when you’re working on ‘epic’ sounding productions like EDM, or Rock.

The best thing about Cinematic Rooms is that it does not simply leave you with highly realistic presets to start with.

As you become familiar with the plugin, you’ll be able to fine-tune these presents, and dial in your own, unique spaces, so you can achieve the exact tone and feel you’re looking for!

Just to give you one example: You can customize the size and characteristics of the room, as well as modulate the reverb tail, in order to create a sense of movement and excitement. In addition, there’s a freely adjustable pre-delay, which allows you to meticulously control the timing and perception of the reverb.

As the cherry on top, Cinematic Rooms also supports multi-channel audio, making it a great fit for any surround-sound project. It’s been used on multiple Blockbusters this year!

So go check out this amazing reverb and try it out on your own productions.
I can’t wait to hear what you think!

Are there any system requirements for using Cinematic Rooms?

Cinematic Rooms can be used on most major Digital Audio Workstations, including Logic Pro X and Pro Tools, Cubase, Studio One, and other popular DAWs. Its licensing rights are handled through iLok, which most of you will be familiar with.

Compared to other reverbs, Cinematic Rooms is relatively light on the CPU, depending on which application you’re using (with surround sound being more CPU heavy, of course)

I recommend visiting the LiquidSonics website to learn more about the exact system requirements.
