The trick uses analog techniques in digital form to create HUGE kick sound. Add low end to a kick drum without any synthesized low end, such as Pro Tools. This technique doesn’t work all the time, but if the tempo, drum kick, and drummer is right, then is sounds AMAZING.

In any program such as Pro Tools, you get the kick drum mic and send it to the AUX. In that AUX you use EQ and boost the frequency around 35-40 hertz, and then cut everything above that. So basically, that kick drum is unusable.

Then, you duplicate that AUX with the same EQ with the original kick drum, so that it is now going out of 2 Auxiliaries. Then, send the second AUX back into the first. This essentially sends a feedback loop on the EQ, and if you raise it loud enough it will have a loud “hum” sound.
