Mixing The Aquabats Kick Drum with Cameron Webb

The Aquabats are an Orange County California based band that formed in the early nineties.  By 1997 they had released their second album featuring the song “Super Rad!” One of the coolest facts about this era of the Aquabats career is that they drums for this song were cut by Travis Barker, before his days in Blink 182.

Cameron Webb is an L.A. based producer and mixer that has worked with several of rocks top rock and metal bands.  He’s also worked with the Aquabats.  Although, Cameron didn’t record “Super Rad” during that era of the band, he has a close working relationship with them on many of the more recent projects.  Because of that, Cameron has been able to get the original 2 inch tape, and transfer it to pro tools to mix.

In this video, Cameron goes over his EQ and compression setting for the kick drum on the Aquabats song, “Super Rad.”  SO check it out, and if you have any questions leave it in the comments below.
