Nashville Pedal Steel Guitar Recording

Nashville: Producing and recording pedal steel guitar

Producing music is challenging, fun, and exciting but let’s be honest, sometimes daunting.  It takes a mixture a incorporating musical talent with interpersonal communication. Music producers must be able to effectively communicate their ideas to the artist during each session.  Some situations will require the producer to encourage and push the artist to give more or take the idea and refine it.  There will be those rare and potentially difficult situations that will require us to tell the artist their idea is not best for the project.

In this video, you’ll gain the close up experience and be a part of the intimate process of the production duo You’re Not My Dad consisting of bassist Jackson Eppley and guitarist and engineer Ryan Truso as they produce the pedal steel parts for their original song “Day Drunk in Reno.” Jackson and Ryan make multiple suggestions to the pedal steel player Justin Schipper to guide and facilitate the process of creating the best song.

Bassist Jackson Eppley is leading the pack of a growing and popular trend in the music industry.  He has taken his experiences of being an accomplished bassist and producer and is now songwriting and composing original music for film and TV.  Nashville is known as a songwriter’s town and Jackson has made his home there and left his mark in continuing this tradition. His achievements coupled with Nashville’s variety of music instruments has given this video an opportunity to explore an unfamiliar but highly recognizable instrument, the pedal steel guitar.  You will not want to miss “Producing Country Music with You’re Not My Dad” and the haunting and moving tones this instrument produces.  At least let our YouTube video give you a tease. We know you’ll be hooked!
