Recording Genesis with ONE MIC! – Austrian Audio OC18

This is another video in our “One Mic” Series, and today we will be using the Austrian Audio OC18 to record a cover of “Turn It On Again” by Genesis!

As usual, this will be recorded through our Audient ID44, but this time we also worked with Adam from Hop Pole Studios, who recorded some drums and also did background vocals with Steve Maggiora!

The multitracks from the mic demo are also available for you to download so you can hear how this mic sounds for yourself! Click here to download the multitracks!

We also get to give away one of these wonderful microphones! Enter below for a chance to win an Austrian Audio OC18 mic!

The OC18 is a classic cardioid microphone, and contains the same handmade CKR12 ceramic capsule as the OC818. Like all Austrian Audio mics, it is engineered and manufactured in Austria. Its high sensitivity and low self-noise means it can handle everything from a whisper to extreme SPLs without distortion, making it a great choice for studio, live, and broadcast settings.

We found that the OC18 had a lot of girth for a condenser, which we really liked. This mic has a lot of the characteristics of the 818, just with fewer polar patterns (with the 818 you can adjust the polar pattern on the mic, even after recording), but this is a less expensive model.
