The MUM-10 and MUM-10MB are being released this Thursday 10th October, and James and Mark at Present Day Production are extremely excited to share with you their best-performing monitor yet!
Following the success of the MUM-6 and MUM-8, the MUM-10 is the latest and greatest in their Modular Upgradable Monitor lineup, featuring higher SPL capability, an even deeper bass response, and the same incredible detail and transient response their monitors are known for, all measuring better than ever before. And that means one thing – superb mix translation. The PDP team truly believes the MUM is the only monitor you need in your studio, from now and into the future, thanks to the upgradability – it is the Modular Upgradable Monitor range after all.
They will be taking pre-orders for the MUM-10 and MUM-10MB from 10:10 UK Time on the 10th of October, with 10% off for the first 10 pre-orders – see what they did there?

The MUM-10 and MUM-10MB
Firstly, let’s introduce the two new MUM-10 variants. The MUM-10 builds upon the renowned design of the MUM-8 – a vertical three-way midfield loudspeaker featuring the BlieSMa T25 tweeter and the incredible M74 mid driver, as well as the astoundingly powerful new Purifi PTT-10 bass driver, housed within a sturdy Valchromat cabinet with a 38mm front baffle featuring constrained layer damping for total rigidity and lack of resonance. On the rear of the MUM-10, its active amplifier provides 600W of pristine Class-D power, controlled by DSP technology to control the phase alignment of the speakers’ drivers for their best possible on-axis performance. As with the MUM-8, the amplifiers can also be rack-mounted for studios who would like to soffit mount their speakers, or who would like easy access to their inputs and outputs.
The new MUM-10MB builds upon the same foundation as the MUM-10 – the same incredible driver and amplifier technology, but in an all-new meter bridge configuration, designed for studios who need a compact monitors to sit atop a mixing console, or for those engineers who don’t have a lot of vertical space in their studios. Furthermore, to allow them to make the MUM-10MB as compact as possible yet without compromising incredible performance, they have developed a rack-mountable amplifier system – BEENZBOX. Featuring the same class-leading amplification and DSP control, BEENZBOX is housed in a beautiful 2U rack case, giving you the flexibility to store the MUM-10MB amplifiers in the most optimum place in your studio. This also means the MUM-10MB cabinet is more compact and a little shallower than the MUM-10, at only 280mm deep compared to the 352mm depth of the MUM-10. Perfect for those working in smaller rooms, or who may want to get their speakers right up against the front wall to minimise SBIR artifacts.
Measurements
The MUM-10 and MUM-10MB are their best-performing models yet, and this is reflected in their measurements. Both the MUM-10 and MUM-10MB are full range monitors offering a -3dB range of 22Hz – 22KHz. The below graph shows the anechoic frequency response of the MUM-10 with data down to 50Hz, as captured within the measurement space. (50Hz is the lower bound of the measurement environment due to time domain constraints, but they intend on publishing full 20Hz – 20KHz measurements in the near future). The MUM-10 and MUM-10MB are flat to within +/- 1dB, which is an exceptional demonstration of their accuracy and reliability as a professional studio monitoring solution.
Thanks to their collaboration with an industry-leading expert in measurement and speaker design, James and Mark have been able to coax the best results possible from the MUM-10 with no excessive DSP tweaking required. This is their best example yet of how incorporating class-leading components in an exceptionally well designed cabinet can yield incredible results – and the measurements back up the results of their listening tests.

The MUM-10 also features extremely low distortion levels, meaning deeper perception of detail, layering distinction in which you can hear the reverb tails of even the most fragile sounds, and less fatigue during long term listening sessions, allowing you to mix faster, better, and for longer than ever before. With distortion measurements as low as 0.1% in much of the frequency response, and only 1% in the lower frequencies, the MUM-10’s incredible lack of audible harmonic distortion is in no small part down to their specific choice of top-performing drivers such as the Purifi PTT-10 with its NeutralSurround technology, reducing intermodulation distortion around 10x more than other competing bass drivers of a similar size.

All in all an incredibly impressive studio monitor at a fantastic price due to their direct sales model. Don’t forget to check the video review on our YouTube channel!
