Mixing through plugins on your master bus is a widely debated topic. There are many approaches and methods but the best part is that there is no one way to go about it.
Today I have a video for you with excerpts from 2 of our most popular Rock Mixing Courses. Mixing Modern Rock with Bob Marlette and Mixing Rock with Ulrich Wild.
Both of these mixers are working on songs that have massive drums, distorted heavy guitars and big vocals that are up front in the mix. However, they use completely different approaches on their mix bus, and still achieve stellar results! Bob uses a single limiter on his mix bus, where Ulrich uses EQ, compression, saturation, and limiting.
