Sonible smart:comp spectro-dynamic compressor Demo & Giveaway

SMART-COMP-1

In this episode, we’re going to be checking out Sonible’s “smart:comp

There are quite a few plugins that we have looked at recently that have AI capabilities This one looks interesting because it’s doing a full spectral analysis and then acting like a multi-band compressor with over 2000 points.

I’m excited to see what it will do, the great thing about this review is I’ll be messing around with this is real time seeing what I can get out of it but also they are giving us 3 copies to giveaway to our amazing community!

We are using the track Gypsy from Robert Jon and The Wreck this is one of the songs we mixed on a live stream entirely in the box.

Most of this track is using stock compressors and stock EQs so it’s pretty comparable to something you would have at your own house.

I’ve got Live drums, Bass, Guitars and after reading about the smart:comp very briefly I learned you can load in instrument types, have it analyze and then apply EQ and multi-band compression based on that.

Essentially it is EQing individual EQ Bands, which of course will affect how you are hearing it since it’s not just generically compressing the whole thing.

On a typical session, It seems very realistic to use smart:comp a lot.

It seems like a smart idea because it’s not inherently changing it so much and it’s keeping the integrity of the song.

I could put this on first get rid of little issues and then EQ and compress more later if I want to get more drastic.
