Studio DMI Grand Opening & Tour with Luca Pretolesi

STUDIO DMI TOUR

We have a very exciting video for you today!

We were recently in Las Vegas at the DMI Studio opening party, It was lot of fun!

In todays video we’re going to do a studio tour, talk to people who work here and generally have a rather lovely time.

We were able to have a chat with 3X Grammy-Nominated mixing & Mastering Engineer Luca Pretolesi! he has been in the business for a while now and has worked with the likes of Skrillex, Diplo, Bruno Mars, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, MakJ and more.

“It’s surreal today to be here, have multiple rooms and doing what we love”

At the age of 16 , Pretolesi completed a three-years of training as a sound engineer at a music school in Milan. After finishing school, he began the production of his own music in the late 1980’s. by 1990 the singles appeared under various project names. He became known for the project Digital Boy . In 1991 his first album Futuristik was released . With the single “The Mountain of King” , which Pretolesi had written with Ronnie Lee , in 1994, he ranked on one of the Italian single charts, and In 1994 he founded his own label D-Boy Records.

In the early 2000’s Pretolesi moved to Las Vegas and turned to audio engineering. He mixed for artists and projects like Steve Aoki , Diplo , Major Lazer , Jack Ü , Lil Jon , Gareth Emery , Snoop Lion and Skrillex.

In 2012, he opened his studio Digital Music Innovation (Studio DMI).

We walked into the studio and I was immediately shocked by how beautiful it is, it’s absolutely gorgeous – it’s clear no expenses were spared designing this studio!

The newest part of the room is the speakers Studio I has a Focal Trio11 be in the left and right corners and it’s hard to describe the result of the actual room sound with the Trio11 after a week of using them says Luca.  “The Trio11 be’s have the expensive tone of Hi-Fi speakers that but with precise detail separation between mid-range, upper-midrange and top. – It is so pleasing” Luca works an average of 7-8 hours at 90 dB’s and said “They are so good!”

As you know we have the same Focals and what’s interesting is when we flatten out all the speakers we have so they have the “same response” these Focals always have the smoothest high-end. – There’s something about them that allows you to work for long periods of time.

We’re living in a world where there isn’t a massive budget to mix one song the reality is you might be working on a lot of songs per day!

Studio DMI started in 2012 and it was a very small and in the hotel complex Wynn / Encore Las Vegas, in size it was equivalent to the new Studio I. Since they were involved with EDM music from the beginning they exploded with the scene as electronic music expanded and exploded in North American and being in Vegas’ that out them in the right place at the right time.

Although Studio DMI is where the world’s top dance music recording artists come to have Pretolesi mix and master instant club bangers, Studio DMI stands for and by the idea of the study of Digital Music Innovation.
