Summer NAMM 2017 in Nashville, TN!

summer namm 2017

We recently got to visit wonderful Nashville, TN and attend the Summer NAMM show! It was a great trip and we talked to so many gear manufacturers, musicians, producers and engineers.  The first day that we attended the show we visited with reps from Empirical Labs, Useful Arts, Serpent Audio, and Luke Audio.

Useful Arts is making a very versatile 2 channel mic tube mic preamp  and a bass DI with built in compressor.  Both units are hand built in the USA and sound great.

Serpent Audio showed of their incredible Splice MKII Fet Compressor.  What I love about this compressor is that not only is it an 1176 style compressor, it has a mix knob so that you can do “in the box” style parallel compression, and it has both black face and blue stripe revision circuity inside so that you can switch between both.

Next we stopped in to talk to Empirical Labs about the many great pieces of gear that they are making.  I tell people all the time if you are going to get one compressor, check out the Distressor.

Last we talked with the fine folks as Luke Audio about the fine microphones that they are making right there in Nashville! They have many great microphones and you should check them out.

You can watch all of the interviews with the reps we talked to from all of these amazing gear manufacturers in the video below.  Enjoy the video and please leave a bunch of comments and questions!

Don’t miss our latest video at Sunset Sound, where we’ve put up a humble $1700 microphone setup up against all of the wonderful equipment Sunset has to offer, including over $100000 of microphones and an invaluable recording chain.
