Tiny Desk Concerts – Producing and Recording with Josh Rogosin

Chances are you’ve seen or heard about NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, a revolutionary show that brings chart topping artists and musical shows into a small room for an intimate performance that showcases their true talent.

Today we interview Josh Rogosin who has produced, recorded and mixed over 800 of the Tiny Desk Concerts along with pioneering the level and quality of field recordings throughout his journey as a journalist for NPR.

Josh takes us through his journey from starting out at NPR to being technical director for NPR Music, the production, recording and the story behind Tiny Desk Concerts.

Josh also gives us a preview into a new series he has started called Global Sound Concerts, a music series that spans the globe, and features musicians in iconic locations where they are from. It’s as if Anthony Bourdain did a show about music.

Towards the end of the episode Josh also gives us a glimpse into his upcoming deep dive workshop presentation that will be live on July 11th from 12pm EST to 3pm EST where Josh has compiled all the tools he has learned and uses throughout his career as one of the most celebrated live music recordists into this 3 hour masterclass.
