Today marks Freddie Mercury’s 70th Birthday

Christmas 1975, I’m barely out of diapers, my father gives me Queen ‘A Night At The Opera’ to me. My father, a Classical and Jazz fanatic, deems it ok for me listen to Queen, in fact after hearing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ he placed them alongside his favourite composers. My pre teen self sat there endlessly with headphones on day after day, night after night listening to Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor’s collective genius. ‘A Night At The Opera’ is and will always be my favourite album, Queen, my favourite band and Freddie Mercury, in my opinion, the greatest rock singer that ever lived!

I, like many of us, watched Live Aid Live on TV July 13th 1985. This event was one of Rock’s last great moments, artist from all over the world got together for one common good, to help the millions of people starving in Ethiopia. It also was the day that Queen played, in my humble opinion, the greatest live show ever.
