Waves StudioRack Is Now FREE And Accepts Third-Party VST3 Plugins
Lee Chapman
Waves Audio’s StudioRack plugin rack, which for the first time will be able to host not only Waves plugins – but any VST3 plugin.
That’s right, you will now be able to load non-Waves VST3 plugins inside Waves StudioRack!
The move towards an ability to run StudioRack chains with plugins by multiple manufacturers is a smart one! Waves StudioRack is now open to non-Waves VST3 plugins by any plugin company – FabFilter, Softube, Acustica, iZotope, etc. etc. – to name just a few.
Now you can take advantage of Waves StudioRack’s unique capabilities – including the ability to save complete plugin chains, assign plugin controls to StudioRack macros, and assign plugins in multiband/parallel splits – using any VST3 plugins, Waves or non-Waves.
This update also allows users of non-VST DAWs (like Pro Tools and Logic) a great solution to use VST3 plugins – users can open up StudioRack as an AU/AAX and host VST3’s in it.
Important note about using StudioRack with non-Waves VST plugins:
Non-Waves VST3 plugins can be assigned to StudioRack macros, just like Waves plugins. The only difference in workflow between Waves and non-Waves is in how plugin functions are assigned to StudioRack’s macros: Functions in Waves plugins can be assigned to StudioRack macros by right-clicking knobs in the plugin itself, or by right-clicking macro knobs in StudioRack, or through StudioRack’s “Assign” button. Non-Waves VST functions can be assigned to StudioRack macros only the last two ways.
