If you\u2019ve been tuning in for the last year or so you\u2019ll know that I actually helped design this with a very good friend of mine Mr. Michael Stucker!<\/p>\n<p>You may remember that I\u2019ve actually reviewed this little beauty before and did a review with it.<\/p>\n<p>Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/producelikeapro.com\/blog\/uk-sound-1173-channel-strip-review\/\">UK Sound 1173 Channel Strip Review<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This time my good friend Matt Starr is coming over and we\u2019re going to do a cover of The Who song \u201cI Can\u2019t Explain\u201d<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re going to spend about an hour and record it for you using only 1173, one mic on the drum kit, DI\u2019d bass, some electric guitar, and of course some vocals. It was a lot of fun!<\/p>\n<p>I love this unit! Essentially, it is a 1073 style mic pre with a beautiful transformer and my favorite compressor (the 1176), which is why it\u2019s called the 1173<\/p>\n<p>I actually have a prototype in the corner of my studio called the Huart Channel, which Michael Stucker built for me! We took that prototype and turned it into this lovely unit. It retails for around $1,200, which is not bad considering it\u2019s got a <a href=\"https:\/\/producelikeapro.com\/blog\/best-microphone-preamps-every-budget\/\">mic pre<\/a> that normally retails around $3000 and a compressor which is around $2000.<\/p>\n<p>The best thing about this is you\u2019re going to get to hear me use it on everything, and better still, you can enter to win this unit! I mess around and do some guitar solo stuff, which is a little different than the original.
