The best answer to this is&#8230; A question, are you using an external mastering engineer?<\/p>\n<p>If you are using an external mastering engineer, we learned a lot during our chat with <strong>Michael Romanowski<\/strong> a couple of months ago he said that he likes to receive the files at the highest bit rate and sample rate as possible.<\/p>\n<p>If you missed our marvellous chats with Michael you can watch them here:<\/p>\n<p>Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/ByVN-FpPek0\">Michael Romanowski: Grammy-Nominated Mastering Engineer<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Watch <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/mzcUBlnqrX0\">6 Pre-Mastering Tips with Michael Romanowski<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Maintain everything at 24-bit &amp; 96kHz that way your mastering engineer who is surrounded by incredibly expensive hardware will be able save that down to whatever it needs to be. &#8211; that is the best method if you&#8217;re using an external Mastering Engineer.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re mastering it yourself:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Save it down to 24-bit\/96kHz.<\/li>\n<li>Open up a 24-bit\/96kHz session,<\/li>\n<li>Bring the files in<\/li>\n<li>Master it in this new separate session<\/li>\n<li>Then save the new session to 44.1kHz\/16-bit.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Basically kept it at the highest possible resolution you can for the longest possible time. &#8211; <strong>That is the answer to the question<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We cover the following questions during this episode of FAQ Friday!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Do you ever listen to tracks, completely think through a mix and then execute it knowing exactly how it will turn out or do you start working and let the mix evolve and see where it takes you?<br \/>\n\u2022 How do you deal with songs you\u2019ve received for mixing that you don\u2019t like or even can\u2019t stand?
