I get sent stuff that is super super hot, and then barely audible!<\/p>\n<h2>If it\u2019s clipping, there\u2019s not a lot I can do.<\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019ll bring it down as much as possible- there are a number of plugins out there which can remove clips. There not perfect, but they do help.<\/p>\n<p>More often than not, I see the opposite. Sometimes we\u2019re sent tracks that I don\u2019t know there\u2019s audio on there until we zoom in 500% &#8211; 600% and then suddenly a track will start to appear. Usually that\u2019s okay because it\u2019s a digital only signal- so there\u2019s no inherent noise in there.<\/p>\n<p>There are times when, unfortunately, there is a lot of noise. You start amplifying the tracks so it\u2019s actually loud enough to be able to use, you bring up the gain, but you\u2019re also bringing up a huge amount of noise. Hence, the signal to noise ratio is not good!<\/p>\n<p>Those are the times that I <a href=\"https:\/\/producelikeapro.com\/blog\/gain-staging-modern-recording\/\">gain stage before mixing<\/a>. As I said before, I don\u2019t do it on my own stuff because we\u2019re printing at nice big fat tones that I can do whatever I want with!<\/p>\n<h2>Just be mindful that you print at a decent enough level.<\/h2>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t have to be 90% of the screen, but give yourself enough level! Don\u2019t worry about the LUFS as <a href=\"https:\/\/producelikeapro.com\/blog\/mastering-music-warren-sokol\/\">Warren Sokol<\/a> was explaining in a recent video- that\u2019s the average of the whole length of the track.<\/p>\n<p>Just use common sense! Don\u2019t clip it. Don\u2019t make it inaudible. You shouldn\u2019t need to normalize all your tracks.
