Phil and I had a lot to talk about. First is the <a href=\"https:\/\/voxamps.com\/en-xa\/product\/ac10-custom\/\"><strong>Vox AC10<\/strong><\/a> which until I saw it about three days ago I never knew there was such a thing. <strong>&#8211; I may have been living underground, haha<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>AC10<\/strong> is a <strong>beautiful little beast<\/strong> that has been on the market for about two years now. It\u2019s a simple amp, <strong>a stripped-down version of their AC15<\/strong> without the normal channel and the tremolo circuit.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/voxamps.com\/en-xa\/product\/ac10-custom\/\">AC10<\/a><\/strong> is a very light amp with a <strong>10\u201d Celestion VX10 driver, <\/strong>sonically it has a bit of an Alnico high-end and quite a lot of mid-range. Having the 10\u201d driver inside means the weight was reduced drastically. Vox engineered the Cabinet to make sure it had a resonant low end to fill a room or stage. <strong>&#8211; I said it on camera and I\u2019ll write it in here \u201c<em>I will be getting one of these amps!\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next thing I want to talk about is the <strong>MV50<\/strong> both the <strong>AC<\/strong> and <strong>Boutique<\/strong> models, which are remarkable. They&#8217;re a <strong>Nutube<\/strong> powered <a href=\"https:\/\/producelikeapro.com\/blog\/best-microphone-preamps-every-budget\/\">preamp<\/a> with a <strong>50Watt,<\/strong> <strong>Class D<\/strong>, <strong>Power amp<\/strong>. So <strong>despite their small size, they\u2019re punching well above their 1lb weight class.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/2O9wg4z\">MV50 AC Retails for only $219<\/a> and it\u2019s a very affordable and versatile piece of gear. What makes Phil so excited about the MV50s is their use of the NuTube Technology. <strong>Nutube technology<\/strong> is a <strong>huge breakthrough in tube technology, probably one of the biggest in decades<\/strong>. It was designed in collaboration with a Japanese company. A very clever man in the core corporation had a lightbulb moment and realized that he could repurpose VFD Display technology in to a very familiar format. &#8211; <strong>This is well above my pay grade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>To keep things simple,<\/strong> Nutube is a very low energy consumption, low power preamp tube. This means amp and circuit designers can use <strong>much lower supply and plate voltages<\/strong> for the tube. The power transformers are smaller, the capacitors are smaller and many other things, <strong>making it possible to make genuine preamp circuits with genuine tube-harmonic break up in a much smaller format.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Latest and greatest<\/strong> Vox had to show off at <strong>TGU 2019<\/strong> was their <a href=\"https:\/\/voxamps.com\/en-xa\/product\/ac30s1\/\"><strong>AC30 S1<\/strong><\/a> otherwise known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/voxamps.com\/en-xa\/product\/ac30s1\/\"><strong>AC30 ONETWELVE<\/strong><\/a>. What\u2019s special and unique about this model is similar to the AC10 I mentioned above.
