It\u2019s not just about verse\u2013chorus\u2013bridge, it\u2019s about how each section\u00a0<em data-start=\"1123\" data-end=\"1130\">feels<\/em>. For example, when he hit the bridge of the track in the course, he pointed out that the acoustic guitars had continued from the chorus without any tonal or dynamic change. Instead of letting that moment drift by, he made a subtle shift\u2014dialling back the guitars and introducing new textures to create contrast. It\u2019s a reminder that every section needs its own identity.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1503\" data-end=\"1529\">Mixing with Movement<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"1530\" data-end=\"1847\">Richard\u2019s automation work is next level. He doesn\u2019t just set levels and forget them\u2014he treats automation like live performance. A great example from the course was a harp part he animated across the stereo field. Just a gentle pan left to right, but it brought the part alive in a way that static panning never could.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1849\" data-end=\"2144\">He also leans into harmonic excitement in really tasteful ways. There\u2019s a Pro Tools stock plugin he uses for saturation and distortion, adding just enough colour to make a sound pop without taking over the mix. He uses\u00a0<strong data-start=\"2251\" data-end=\"2265\">Bass Rider<\/strong>\u00a0not to fix problems, but to make the bass part feel more connected to the song\u2019s rhythm and flow. Then he makes really smart EQ moves\u2014boosting around 60 Hz for depth, and 160 Hz to bring the bass forward in the mix. It\u2019s subtle stuff, but it adds up to a bass that feels alive and present without fighting for space.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"2584\" data-end=\"2609\">Smart Side Chaining<\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"2610\" data-end=\"2920\">We\u2019ve all heard about side chaining, but Richard takes it a step further. Using\u00a0<strong data-start=\"2690\" data-end=\"2706\">Track Spacer<\/strong>, he\u2019s able to duck only specific frequency bands\u2014letting the kick punch through without gutting the bass.
