Gear only matters if it helps you get where you want to go faster. That\u2019s it. He regularly works fully in the box, as well as in hybrid setups, and sees no hierarchy between the two.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember67\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">There\u2019s a tendency to assume racks of expensive analogue gear equal better results. However, that simply isn\u2019t true. In modern 32-bit and 64-bit DAWs, gain staging is completely flexible. He can turn things up or down instantly without degrading the signal.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember74\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">What he <em>does<\/em> care about is this:<\/p>\n<blockquote id=\"ember75\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__blockquote\"><p>Send the mix you love.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p id=\"ember76\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">If you start second-guessing levels to \u201cplease the mastering engineer,\u201d you\u2019ve already stepped out of the creative mindset. And that\u2019s the worst place to be.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember77\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Takeaway:<\/strong> Don\u2019t mix for mastering. It\u2019s about emotion.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember81\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">The goal is to enhance whatever makes the song special and ensure that translates to every listener, on every system.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember82\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Years from now, nobody remembers LUFS values. They remember how a song made them feel.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember83\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\"><strong>Takeaway:<\/strong> Mastering is emotional translation, not technical correction.<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3 id=\"ember84\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__heading-3\">How Do You Know What to Enhance?<\/h3>\n<p id=\"ember85\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">There\u2019s no preset for this.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember86\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">Sometimes it\u2019s a vocal nuance. Sometimes it\u2019s a bass tone. Sometimes it\u2019s the way a chorus lifts emotionally.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember87\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">And sometimes it\u2019s subtle, almost intangible.<\/p>\n<p id=\"ember88\" class=\"ember-view reader-text-block__paragraph\">This is where experience comes in.
