T-RackS, iRig, interfaces, plugins, monitors, you name it. I\u2019ve been working with their gear since the early 2000s. Quite the opposite. I deliberately went into this pretty cold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Of course I knew <i>what<\/i> <a href=\"https:\/\/sweetwater.sjv.io\/B06yXL\">TONEX<\/a> was. I\u2019d heard the hype, seen the videos, and watched players like Alex Lifeson using it live. Tons of presets, stereo operation, IR support, onboard effects, amp and cab flexibility, delays, reverbs, modulation, compression, all of it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">However, features are one thing.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I wanted to hear sounds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">So I started shouting out amps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cGive me a Deluxe Reverb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Straight away they pulled up this gorgeous Fender-style clean tone with chorus and reverb. Warm, dimensional, really familiar feeling.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Then I asked them to strip the modulation off so I could hear it more naked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Still sounded fantastic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Then I went for the Roland JC120.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They nailed that instantly too. That glassy hi-fi chorus thing was absolutely there.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Then an AC30.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Then a Marshall JMP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Then a 5150.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And every single time the thing that stood out wasn\u2019t just the EQ curve or the distortion character, it was the response. The way it reacted when you changed your picking dynamics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That\u2019s where a lot of digital systems still fall apart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">This didn\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\"><b>It Actually Takes Pedals Properly<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">This was another big one for me.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Back in the day, one of the fastest ways to destroy a modeller was sticking pedals in front of it. Especially Tube Screamers, Klons, boosts, things like that. Everything would just collapse into fizzy harshness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">However, the <a href=\"https:\/\/sweetwater.sjv.io\/B06yXL\">TONEX<\/a> handled pedals really well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They had a Tube Screamer and a Klon-style pedal running into it and it reacted much more like a real amp than I expected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That immediately got my attention.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\"><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-64807 lazyload\" class=\"p2\"><b>The Feel Is the Whole Point<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">This is the bit that\u2019s difficult to explain unless you\u2019re actually sitting there playing it.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">A great amp isn\u2019t just about frequency response.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It\u2019s touch sensitivity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It\u2019s that edge-of-breakup thing where lightly picked chords stay clean, however the second you lean into the strings it starts to compress and grind in this really musical way.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That\u2019s what makes amps addictive to play.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">And honestly, TONEX V2 gets frighteningly close to that behaviour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Much closer than I expected.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p2\"><b><img loading=\"lazy\" fascinating.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We set up a real Fender Deluxe Reverb with a Tube Screamer in front, miked it with an Shure SM57, dialled the sound in properly, and then captured the entire chain using the <a href=\"https:\/\/sweetwater.sjv.io\/B06yXL\">TONEX<\/a> software.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">What I liked immediately was how straightforward the whole process felt.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You don\u2019t need some insane studio setup.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You can use your own interface, your own laptop, your own amps.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The software walks you through everything.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Marco explained the difference between traditional modelling and what TONEX is doing with its AI capture process.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Traditional modelling tries to Makes a Lot of Sense<\/b><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\">While I was there, IK were also talking about the brand-new <a href=\"https:\/\/sweetwater.sjv.io\/GbZaLm\">TONEX ONE+<\/a>, and honestly this feels like a smart evolution of the whole ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The original <a href=\"https:\/\/sweetwater.sjv.io\/GbZaLm\">TONEX ONE<\/a> was already impressively compact, however the new ONE+ adds wireless control through the TONEX Control app on iOS and Android.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That means no computer needed just to tweak tones or manage presets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You can literally sit there with your phone or tablet, browse ToneNET, edit captures, organise presets and tweak sounds wirelessly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That\u2019s genuinely useful.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Particularly for players using compact fly rigs, small studio setups, rehearsals, or modern pedalboard systems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They\u2019ve also added full MIDI support via TRS and USB, which means it integrates properly into larger switching systems and live rigs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That\u2019s a big deal for touring players.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">You can automate changes, switch presets in real time, control parameters externally, even run dual-pedal stereo setups while keeping the footprint tiny.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The pedal ships with 100 premium Tone Models as well, and connects directly into the larger TONEX ecosystem with access to more than 60,000 Tone Models on ToneNET.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That part really stood out to me during the visit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">I guessed wrong.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Repeatedly.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">At one point I identified the TONEX as the real amp, then moments later identified the real amp as <a
