I recently did a live recording session at the legendary Sunset Sound Studio Three, where Prince recorded three of his best albums and lived in for several years. We used all of the wonderful equipment Sunset Sound has to offer including an over $100000 mics and recording chain.

However, we also set up the Focusrite and Shure Drum Recording Bundle alongside Sunset’s classic microphone collection to see how they perform. 

The results were amazing! It goes to show that for a fraction of the cost you can get incredible recordings. What’s important is recording a great room, with well-tuned drums and most of all: an amazing performance. But in your heart you already knew that. Creativity is king!
