Hello! Hope you’re having a marvellous Tuesday! We have arrived at week 3 on our journey of producing the song “Side by Side” with The Workday Release.
In week 1 we recorded the acoustic guitar and scratch vocal, and in week 2 we recorded the drums! Today we pick up where we left off- edit the drums that we recorded! It’s not important that we edit the drums, in fact David’s performance is very good and we could leave it unedited if we wanted to keep it very organic.
If you’re adding more electronic elements in your production of the song then you will want follow along and see how I edit the drums. You can download the unedited drums as well as my edited version so you can practice editing!
We also have a thread going inside of the academy where several of the members are posting their own versions of the song. If you want to get in on the action, sign up and get a 14 day free trial of the academy!
Hey Warren, what is the song tempo? I’m having a hard time syncin the edited version on logic. On 61 bpm doesn’t work… i had to put a 61,330. Is that correct or is logic different than pro tools. Cheers mate!

Hey! Great video. I was wondering what can you do with fast drum fills with beat detective. I’ve tried to use it but I always end up with a distorted sound because of the time movement. Thanks a lot!
Hi @martodousdebes:disqus! Yes, you can! But I very often edit small complex passages by hand as well! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
