Hi friends, I hope you’re doing marvellously well!
As you know, vocals are the most important part of the song – especially in modern pop music: A great vocal performance is key for any song to be successful.
Today, we’re back with part 2 of our: ‘How to use Melodyne’ series with Stefan Lindlahr of Celemony. Stefan flew out to L.A. a week early, to film tutorials with us and show us how to use Melodyne to it’s full potential:
In this video, Stefan shows us how to fine-tune a vocal performance tastefully, by improving pitch and intonation, while enhancing the expression of the artist. Being able to fine-tune and enhance even the slightest nuances of a performance is the most crucial feature of Melodyne to me, because it allows you to bring out every emotion the singer put into the performance. – And emotion is the essence of a great song!
You’ll see Stefan tweak a vocal in real time, share his thought process and preferred editing techniques. Thank you ever so much for sharing your knowledge with us Stefan, we’re blessed to learn the ins and outs of this software from one of its developers!
I hope you enjoyed this video. For more Melodyne tutorials, please check out this Playlist: Melodyne Beginners Guide, Creating Harmonies and more.

@plap-disqus-d3d9446802a44259755d38e6d163e820:disqus Are you reading my mind? Are you watching my mix sessions? This is uncanny. I’m right in the middle of a very complicated vocal mix session and struggling greatly with the vocalist’s “blue” singing style, bending notes all over the place. Melodyne and I have been trying to make sense of her style for the past 20 to 30 hours. I hope this tutorial will provide the insight that I need to finish this session. It’s by far the most challenging vocal mix I’ve ever attempted.
Hi @plap-disqus-f76a89f0cb91bc419542ce9fa43902dc:disqus fantastic! So glad to be able to help! Stefan was very generous to give us his time and give us some more detail on Melodyne! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
