In this episode, we’re going to be checking out iZOTOPE’s latest iteration of NEUTRON “NEUTRON 3”
I’ve never used the earlier versions, neutron and neutron 2 but I did watch a couple of videos by different people. The reviews varied so massively in opinions but also in the way they were using the plugin. So I asked iZOTOPE if I could try out this latest iteration and use it the way I would use it.

This is quite a smart device because they are comprehensive plugins that you can use essentially as channel strips they have compression, EQ, Gates, Multi-band, and all kinds of different things that you can use on each individual channel!
You can also use it to balance your mix, use it to assess the sounds itself and shape it. You could say “hey I’m mixing a kick drum how do you want it to sound?” And you are able to select how it will sound.
I think with any of these tools no matter how good they are, they are only as good as your ears, you have to choose what you want and how good it’s going to be.
When I watched a few of these videos I realized that the limitation I saw was the limitation of the people using it not a limitation of NEUTRON 3. – Which is absolutely fine.
You’re not going to get an amazing result if you’re not really sure what you want to achieve!
So without further ado, I’m going to try all the different things and see what the iZOTOPE’s NEUTRON 3 can do.
