Studio Tour with CJ Vanston
CJ has built an incredible and highly versatile recording studio. He walks us through all of the equipment he uses and explains how he has set up the studio to let inspiration and creativity flow, without having to worry about the technical.
As a passionate Keyboardist and Film Composer, CJ has an amazing collection of Synths, Rhodes and Wurlitzers. He shows us the ‘Allstars’ of his collection and discusses his favourite ways to use them in his music.
We’re also getting a full walkthrough of his recording and mixing setup, including his Console to Preamps, Compressors, Effects, favourite Microphones and a lot more.
‘I’m not attached to any kind of technology, vintage or otherwise… If it sounds great and is programmable, that’s what I wanna use. There’s a lot of great new gear!”
Thanks so much CJ for giving us this tour. It was highly educational and lots of fun!
Thank you ever so much for watching this video. CJ is madly talented and he shared many funny insider stories of working with Spinal Tap and Joe Cocker!
Have a marvellous time recording and mixing,
Warren

Fuh-fabulous! Regarding name dropping, isn’t that part of the point of this stuff? Drop ’em I say! Tell us who to look up and learn about!
Great note about the Aphex Aural Exciter. Thanks! I have one but never tried it on acoustic guitar. I will now.
Also, I think Warren will have to continue using his vox/isolation room or every record he makes will have FB Live bleed!
Haha yes indeed L Scott Knight! Thanks for the great comment!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Synth-Heaven! I just can’t get enough. I just CAN’T get enough! 🙂
Fantastic interview Warren. Really glad you did a follow-up for m the last one. Thank you CJ for letting us get a glimpse of the glamour side of music. He gets to work with lots of my heroes and that is really inspiring. Thanks a billion.
