Excellent interview! As soon as I saw Johnny K I got excited. My first insight into recording was The Making of Cold Day Memory. As amazing as that record sounds, I just loved how easy going he was/is. Some great tricks in this, looking forward to putting them to use. Always forget he’s worked with Shinedown, SOiL and Nonpoint. So many great bands through my teens that moulded my love for recording!

Thanks Johnny & Warren, I’m relieved that I’m not the only one who
thinks big labels have no idea. They are simply entrepreneurs looking to cash
in on others talent, hence the existence of Indie bands and labels. Not all of
the world appreciates art & music, thank our lucky starts for the
community, college radio and TV stations, and establishments such as the BBC
& ABC Aust (Yes socialist ideas of using the collective’s money to support
the unemployable artists, musicians, & film makers)

Johnny Guitars Rule, and an anthropologist (might not be homosapien) one day
will dig up left over strings, bridges, nutend and tuners and explain to their
audience how there was a piece of wood that held it all together and the
question could be “what is wood” the answer could be “don’t ask
a porn star” many happy 57’s to you both.

Hi @plap-disqus-43ec517d68b6edd3015b3edc9a11367b:disqus, haha, whaaaattt? Labels have no idea?? Nooooo?? Haha There are definitely people there who really do know what they are talking about, passionate music people, but of course there are business minds that care less for music than money. I do think that’s all corporations that are involved in Entertainment! Yes, Jonny’s guitars sound amazing! He’s a master! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

Thank you. Being from Chicago and watching Disturbed and Johnny K grow was very inspiring times. I can see how Johnny K helped “grow” the Disturbed sound. Last 2 albums the band had a lot of producer credits. Like little paper boats launched from the shore. For me Dan Donegan /Mike Wengren combo is amazing. Then add David Draiman vocals. Good stuff.

That’s fantastic @plap-disqus-39461a19e9eddfb385ea76b26521ea48:disqus!! I’ve always loved Chicago, such a great town! Yes, Johnny’s story of growing, developing the band is fantastic! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

    2. Syklopz says:

IMHO I thought the rhythm section was sooo much better with Fuzz on bass. But I am biased as I was the monitor guy for MANY MANY Disturbed shows going back to the “Brawl/Crawl” days before Draiman.

You and I being from Chicago @plap-disqus-39461a19e9eddfb385ea76b26521ea48:disqus love it when our Hometown boys make good.

Oooohhhh,,, You touch on Mutt !!! ,,, I have looked high and low for anything about him for years !!!
Since we’re here, in private,, lol,,, I never knew there were any mutt material any where,,, as I am a huge fan, I will be on th hunt now, lol,,,
Ya know what would be an awesome run through or lesson to me ???
How Mutt got that Def Leppard sound back then,,, it’s rather unique for the tech we had,,,
I alwaya wondered if Def Leppard or Mutt would have had the inspiration for themselves without their work together,,, and I am more curious than that as well, lol,,,
An interview would be ASTOUNDING !!! lol,,, he’s so illusive, I hope he doesn’t take it with him, and leave the world with less than what he could…

    1. Warren Huart says:

HI @plap-disqus-7ef605fc8dba5425d6965fbd4c8fbe1f:disqus, yes Mutt info is as rocking horse s##t as my Dad used to say! Haha That would be an amazing lesson indeed! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
