Today I want to share something, that I´ve learned over many years of being a music producer.
I believe this concept is absolutely crucial to your creative process, whether you´re a producer working with artists or a band writing new songs. The concept is simple:
Don´t debate – Create!
Meaning: Try out ideas instead of thinking about them or discussing if they could work in a fictitious world.
By trying out the ideas your artists bring to the table, they will start to trust you, feel comfortable and supported.
Making your artist feel comfortable and creating an environment where they can freely be creative is one of the most important tasks as a producer. It can be a huge factor for the success you have in your career.
So next time an artist comes to you with an idea, let them try it!
If the idea was crazy, the artist will notice.
If the idea turns out to be genius, you´ll have added a new technique to your arsenal that you can try with different bands or artists in the future.
