Recording Bass with Amos Heller

bass recording with amos heller (Taylor Swift)

Making a living in the current music industry requires diversity. The days of big budgets and taking months or even years to make a record are nearly gone. Instead of an individual having just a career as a recording engineer, producer, or musician, many of the up and comers in today’s industry will fill all of those roles and more.

Today we’re joined by Amos Heller, touring and session bassist for Taylor Swift. While rocking stadiums and working out of the the best studios of the world, he also records bass for artists and bands remotely from his home studio. Remote online sessions have become a huge source of income for musicians over the past few years, and Amos is only one of countless pros who take advantage of it. – You should, too!

We recently released a course with Amos where he shows you his method of home studio bass recording: He breaks down his complete recording chain, shows you how to craft captivating bass lines, dial in tones and a lot more.

This video is an excerpt from that course, and we’ve put together some of the best cuts just for you. Amos shows off his favourite basses and pedals and explains which situations he likes to use them in. He also shares tips on improving the most valuable skill of any bass player: Your feel of rhythm and groove. Have a look and enjoy!
