Same here! but I would not trade Maine life for anything. LOL Love that Mic room, and the 512v with the output! I was just asking about that, the difference for in the box with an api vs a neve.

Thanks as usual Warren. Been subbed for 4 days and already enjoying the messages.

    Alright, here I go.
I don’t get the expense of Avantones. I saw the Mix Cubes in their early stages at IMSTA FESTA and thought to myself I could make my own. BUT, I also feel like I must be missing something since they are so popular and I’m not Mr’ Gear Savvyman.
Warren, that new SSL would free up some space in Spitfire. But then… do you sell the ol hotrod for the new factory model?
About that XYZ mic stand (for kick). I once saw a room mic on an R/C car in a picture.
Hmm, no old GT stuff at VK?
That’s mic system is like a scaled up version of Aspen’s mic sampler unit (his was four or five mics I think?)
Shaky cam. I’m sensitive so it was probably a bit harder on me personally but I’m sending you the solution. And it’s not expensive.

    1. Warren Huart says:

Hi @l_scott_knight:disqus You may well be right about the new SSL!! I’ll let you know if and when that happens! Haha There is probably some old GT stuff, this was all the new stuff we were checking out here. Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

I’ve been thinking of giving the place a visit. A friend is planning a studio build with a crazy budget and I’m worried a bit that he is not well guided by the hyperbole that is out there. He is very smart (medical device inventor) but buying gear because other say it is great and buying gear you need are two different things.
Did you get the email about Mono Pods?

  4. Martin Weeks says:

Wonderful shop. Amazing Gear…maybe in ten years I’ll understand half of what you were talking about. LOL! thanks Warren

    1. Warren Huart says:

Thanks @martin_weeks:disqus I really appreciate it! Oh it’s ok, I’m not an expert at all! Just like everyone here, passionate about music and recording it! With friends like Shelly Yakus and Jack Douglas it’s easy to remember that I really don’t know anything! Haha Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

Great stuff, Warren! Ton of info in a short amount of time and great hearing all about the various boutique builders and their histories. I’ve bought a few pieces from Jeff over the last year or so and what he says about VK’s service approach is true. Looking forward to future VK installments.
