Hello lovely people! I hope this fine Thursday is treating you wonderfully! Today we are continuing our progress recording and producing the song “Side by Side” with The Workday Release.
In week 1 we recorded the acoustic guitar and scratch vocal, and in week 2 we recorded the drums! This week began with drum editing and today we’re going to add bass and electric guitars.
In today’s installment we begin with an electric guitar part and then we quickly move on to the bass. David and I then decided that after having bass and electric that the acoustic needed to be recorded again.
It is important to make sure that the we don’t become too precious about what we are recording. Just because we already recorded the acoustic guitar doesn’t mean that we can’t come back and do it again. Similarly, we recorded some electric guitar parts and then I had another idea and had my engineer Eric mute the original electric guitars and I recorded the new part. Be creative with your production and recording and don’t be afraid to re-record something to make it better, or to scrap an idea completely in favor of another idea!
We also have a thread going inside of the academy where several of the members are posting their own versions of the song. If you want to get in on the action, sign up and get a 14 day free trial of the academy!
Boom! ..just adding a comment for the fans!

Hi Warren,
Are we going to have a Feedback Friday or any other post about this song where you will give your opinion about our mixes once these are finished ? That would be great.
