Today, I’ve got a very special treat for you!
Have you ever wanted to get an inside look into the sessions of all time classics like Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Purple Haze’, Queen’s ‘Killer Queen’ or Led Zeppelin’s ‘Whole Lotta Love’? – Well, now you can!
I interviewed the multi-talented Christian Hand who has worked in just about every area of music you can imagine: As a musician, stage- and tour-manager, he’s been on tour with legendary artists and bands such as Peter Gabriel, Public Enemy, and Korn. He’s worked at major labels, directed music videos, and he composes and produces music for a living.
But here’s the best part: Christian recently started an amazing new Radio show!
In his show ‘The Session‘, he dissects all-time classic songs by some of the greatest bands and artists of all time: Queen, Led Zeppelin, Alice In Chains, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix and many more!
Showing off the original master recordings of these songs, we get to listen to each individually recorded part, understand the production and arrangement choices they’ve made and witness the incredible performances of musical virtuosos, as Christian goes through every track and solos guitars, vocals, bass, drums and more.
This show is a total eye-opener and lets us see the musical genius and all the detail that went into these wonderful records.
So check out ‘The Session‘ today and get an inside look into some of the best records ever made!
In today’s interview, Christian tells us more about the show, and why he started it. We have an honest discussion about the state of the music industry, labels, A&Rs, and which approach modern artists and musicians can take to build a seminal career.
He also gives us a full tour of his home studio and explains his thought process on picking the right pieces of equipment that will actually make a difference for your music.
Thank you so much Christian for making this possible and sharing the musical genius of legendary artists and bands with the world! We’ll have more resources from Christian, his podcast as well as live events accessible below.

When I told you about the Sessions show on KLOS (probably not the first time you’ve heard about it) I never thought you’d be interviewing Christian. I just thought it was so cool he was doing mix breakdowns sort of like what you were doing. Really great interview. Might want to avoid doing a videos with him AND Glenn. What a bleepin’ video that would be! I was a little surprised you didn’t mention Klanghelm to him. Anyway, love his show, love your show. Teaching the public how to listen to music, what a service!!
Haha yes indeed @l_scott_knight:disqus! Yes, Christian is an old friend and I’ve been trying to coordinate this for a year now! haha We finally did it!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
Warren thank you for such a wonderful guest, I admire Christian for his forthright and honest opinion, his love of sharing music with others and the best part he calls bullshit what it is. He’s precious, as honest forthright spirits are hard to come by in theses days of propaganda!
