Lewitt LCT 640 TS Demo & Giveaway

LEWITT LCT 640 TS

We’re going to check out the Lewitt LCT 640 TS, it’s a microphone we’ve used for a few years now and have used in many different applications. We’ve done a few other reviews of this mic in different situations, which you can find links to below. (You can also download the tracks from those sessions)

Another great thing about this mic is that you can win one! – Our wonderful friends over at Lewitt have given us an LCT 640 TS to give away to one lucky viewer! Enter to win above!

The Lewitt LCT 640 TS comes in a rather indestructible case – I shouldn’t say indestructible because now Glenn Fricker will take it and roll a truck over it to prove me wrong! haha

What’s unique about this mic is it records from the front and back, and that’s pretty remarkable.

What I love about the Lewitt 640 is how great it is for stereo- you can stick it over top of the drum kit, in front of the drum kit, and in front of a piano. All of these things are absolutely wonderful. I love the fact that it can shape the sound.

You’ll hear the way that it really controls the low-end so beautifully. On the acoustic all of these things are pluses, but the biggest plus for me is that it’s so accurate, it sounds like the acoustic that I’m sitting in front of!

Some things that are very colored pigeonhole us into one place. What I love about the 640 TS and the reason why this is the third time we’ve talked about it, and featured it, is because this is a mic for a new millennium. It’s a new way of thinking that we can use in any situation. I can get behind this mic and recommend it to you because it’s considerably less expensive than most competitors that sound as good.

I would recommend it because you can use it on stereo applications, for overheads, for room mics, for pianos, for recording an acoustic guitar, and have the ability to shape the sound of vocals for example. It suddenly becomes that mic that we’re all sort of looking for, the utilitarian, one-size-fits-all mic.

I think this is a really, really great mic and I’m extremely impressed with it! The best thing about it is you can enter to win one! Thank you Lewitt!

More about The Lewitt LCT 640 TS

Designed and engineered in Austria, LEWITT’s new LCT 640 TS will revolutionize the way we think about the recording process. Set to Dual Output Mode the signal of the mics front and back diaphragm is provided by independent circuitries, any kind of polar pattern can be realized dynamically – even after the recording. Already recorded material can be changed dynamically by adjusting the polar pattern – room sound can be added or decreased, even a turn by 180° is possible. After recording with the LCT 640 TS you can use LEWITT’s POLARIZER plugin to tweak the material with incredible ease of use. In Multi-Pattern Mode the LCT 640 TS has all the well-known characteristics of a great sounding studio multi-pattern condenser mic. It features five polar patterns: omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, supercardioid and figure-8. Perfect Match technology takes care that all LCT 640 TS are having the exact same sensitivity at 1 kHz. The Dual Output Mode allows to record in stereo with only one LCT 640 TS – usually only possible with two microphones. Clipping History, 4 low-cut and pre-attenuation settings round off the outstanding feature list of the LCT 640 TS. The LCT 640 TS opens doors to a new world of recording techniques.
