During a live stream a couple of days ago, I decided to try a brand new plugin by Plugin Alliance; the Brainworx SSL 4000.
In today’s video I open up a session and mix with all 3 of these plugins! The great thing about this is that Plugin Alliance + Brainworks are going to give away 3 copies of this plugin bundle!
The bundle includes:
• Brainworx bx_console SSL 4000 E
• Brainworx bx_console SSL 4000 G
• Brainworx bx_townhouse Buss Compressor
I’m really excited to try this out! The Townhouse made some of my favorite sounding records!
The Townhouse was a recording studio in West London, built by Richard Branson in 1978. Artists that recorded at Townhouse Studios included Elton John, Queen, Phil Collins, Asia, Coldplay, Muse, Duran Duran, XTC, Robbie Williams, Peter Gabriel, and many more!.
It was one of the greatest studios in the world, unfortunately it’s gone now!
Hugh Padgham made a ton of amazing albums in the Townhouse and he pioneered (with XTC, Peter Gabriel and producer Steve Lillywhite) the gated reverb drum sound used most famously on the Phil Collins hit “In the Air Tonight”. Studio 2’s “Stone Room” became an especially popular place to record drum sounds during the 1980s due to that drum sound.
Hugh Padgham’s co-productions include hits by Phil Collins, XTC, Genesis, The Human League, Sting, and The Police.
Today we’re going to take a look at a song I wrote a long time ago! The drums were recorded in the same studio as How To Save A Life by The Fray.
I’m going to be mixing this session with all 3 of these plugins! Which you can also win! (Enter above!)
