Hi Friends, I hope you’re marvellously well! The PLAP team and I had a great time at NAMM recently (Samuel Ellringmann and David Mood flew out from Germany and Austria, yay!). We’ve checked out plenty of gear and interviewed several manufacturers for you. This is part two of our NAMM tour:
(Missed part one? You can check it out here.)
- I’m interviewing Steve Urie and founder Wade Goeke from Chandler Limited. They walk us through their beautiful recreations of vintage gear, including REDD 47 preamps, several different TG compressors&limiters, EQs, guitar amps and even a custom microphone they just developed! Steve shares interesting stories about Abbey Road studios and gives us a history lesson in vintage gear.
- Doug Fearn presents his latest release, a vibey transistor-based stereo D.I..
- Cliff Mark of Mäag shows us his latest invention, the “Magnum-K”. The Magnum-K is a highly versatile and innovative unit which combines two compressors, an EQ and a limiter in the same unit, allowing for parallel processing and a lot more.
- IZ-Tech shows off their soon to be released 10 point multi touch control system, which will be available for various DAWs, as well as a remote control software to control your DAW from your cellphone or tablet.
The touch movement on their interface is the best I’ve ever felt and it will work with any touchscreen.
I hope you enjoy the tour and gain some interesting insights!

P.S. Have you checked out our latest free mixing pop/rock series on youtube?
I’m breaking down my complete process of mixing song from start to finish and you get to download the multitracks and mix the song for yourself!
So, will there be a raffle for that first Chandler Limited rack? :-)) Or the Mic? Or the Amp? Or the lotto!
I’m very interested to hear more of the Magnum K. Might you do a review?
Haha I wish @l_scott_knight:disqus!! I would love some of the Chandler gear!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren

You’re most welcome @plap-disqus-13fe9d84310e77f13a6d184dbf1232f3:disqus!! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
please in 1073-312-tube redd and comp, you must hear Quadeight electrodyne. this is for me not the 3 but 4 classic
Of course @martialboivin:disqus and in the UK there would also be CADAC, Calrec and Audix! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
no no .. I dodn’t mean it like that.. QE Electrodyne has produced a legendary sound with a single ended discrete opamp that sound like a Neve and an API at the same time. I do understand that CADAC and Audix, and raindirk and many many many other came along with NEVE or API dna. QE is more special than that. I wish you would try a pair or preamp sometime! all theh Best. Martiaudio
Hi @martialboivin:disqus definitely, I’ve used Quadeight many times! They sound great indeed! Have a marvellous time recording and mixing, many thanks Warren
